The SECS Standads

SEMI- Semiconductor Equipment and Materials Internationals.
SECS- SEMI Equipment Communication Standards.

Definition:
It is a computer- to - computer communication protocol intended to assist in automation of electronics manufacturing.
  • SECS allows computer- controlled process equipment, from a variety of vendors, to communicate using standard and consistent protocol with various types of Host computers.
  • Consist of two Standards ( Up to 1987):

SECS-I: Defines SECS message transfer over RS 232 connection ( protocol)

SECS-II: Defines SECS Message contents, using streams and functions.

Introduction to SECS/GEM
SECS/GEM identifies the type of communication interface commonly used in semiconductor ,electronics,and photovoltaic which has been standardized by the no- profit trade association SEMI. You can obtain copies of the SEMI standards through there website at httb://www.SEMI.org.
